Since the first season of What if…? was a worldwide success, Marvel studios didn’t take long to launch the first episode of its second season, which premiered today. This installment brings back stories from different universes narrated by The Watcher following the stories of already known heroes and villains, as well as some new characters.
Nonetheless, the series producers have stated that this new season will focus on giving a new perspective on the already known heroes, as well as well as showing other sides of their character in more depth. Thanks to the infinite possibilities brought by the multiverse, we can see Odin fighting The Mandarin; Tony Stark traveling to Sakaar alongside Valkyrie and Hulk, as well as many Christmas specials!

When will the new episodes of What If…?… season 2 premiere?
Disney announced via Instagram that, due to Christmas and New Year’s Eve, the episodes from the second season of What if…? will premiere one a day per nine consecutive days as a gift to the fans. This means that we’ll have a new episode per day to enjoy everyday for more than a week. Besides, many of the episodes will have a Christmas theme. Here are the dates:
December 22nd: “What if… Nebula Joined the Nova Corps?”
December 23rd: “What If… Peter Quill Attacked Earth’s Mightiest Heroes?”
December 24th: “What If… Happy Hogan Saved Christmas?”
December 25th: “What If… Iron Man Crashed Into the Grandmaster?”
December 26th: “What If… Captain Carter Fought the Hydra Stomper?”
December 27th: “What If… Kahhori Reshaped the World?”
December 28th: “What If… Hela Found the Ten Rings?”
December 29th: “What If… The Avengers Assembled in 1602?”
December 30th: “What If… Strange Supreme Intervened?”
What is the second season of What If…? about?
The official synopsis states:
“Season two of What If…? continues the journey as The Watcher guides viewers through the vast multiverse, introducing brand new and familiar faces throughout the MCU. The series questions, revisits and twists classic Marvel Cinematic moments with an incredible voice cast that includes a host of stars who reprise their iconic roles.”
Unlike the first season, producers have confirmed that this installments won’t follow a linear story, but instead will narrate an independent story each episode. However, we will see the Guardians of the Multiverse and Captain Carter, who will have their own story in the series, so given that case, we can assume that there will be some sort of continuity after all.
Some of the stories we’ll see in the second season of What if…? will have Happy Hogan saving Christmas, The Avengers in the year 1602, Ironman traveling through different planets and, also, Strange Supreme intervening in the multiverse.

Jonathan Majors won’t return as Kang
After the actor Jonathan Majors was declared guilty of assault and harassment, Disney decided to fire him from his role as Kang the Conqueror. This means that the character probably won’t be seen in this new season of What if…?, nor in the upcoming Marvel films. Disney will have to decide whether they recast the character or change their strategy and add a new villain.
