New Green Lantern series
Green Lantern, the battered DC Comics hero and original member of the Justice League, returns in a new original HBO Max series.
Green Lantern is an intergalactic patrolman of the Green Lanterns Corps, whose members have rings of power with which they can manifest a wide variety of powers. The series will be largely located in space and, according to its creators, it will be like no other that has been seen before on television.
The series will be developed by Warner Bros. in association with Berlanti Productions, responsible for popular series such as Titans, Doom Patrol and Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, and the DC Comics Arrowverse, consisting of the series Arrow, The Flash, Supergirl, Legends of Tomorrow and Batwoman.
Even though the series will be produced by Greg Berlanti, it is still uncertain whether the new Green Lantern will be part of the Arrowverse or not. Berlanti was the originally designated writer and director for the movie Green Lantern (2011) but was replaced by director Martin Campbell and his screenplay was rewritten by Michael Goldenberg. The film received negative reviews by fans, critics and even its lead actor, Ryan Reynolds.
Despite having his own movie and a brief appearance in the DC Extended Universe, Green Lantern doesn’t have much popularity among superhero movie fans. Hopefully, this new version of the hero will restore its glory when the series reaches HBO Max, where it will be joined by other series and films of the DC Universe like Joker (Todd Phillips, 2019).
