Written and directed by Noah Baumbach, Marriage Story (2019) introduces us to the intimate and complicated relationship of a couple in the middle of their divorce. The film stars Adam Driver and Scarlett Johansson, who offer the most memorable performances of the year.

The film tells a powerful story that, without taking sides, shows the difficulties of romantic relationships and the arduous legal and psychological process of a divorce. The performances, both of the protagonists and of the secondary characters, are of the highest level in Hollywood, and are strengthened by the impeccable technical work in terms of photography, composition and general production.

The film is largely based on the experiences of Noah Baumbach during his divorce in 2013, as well as those of Scarlett Johansson, who was going through her second divorce during the pre-production stages. These details were fundamental for the development of the ambience and the themes of the film.

Marriage Story received 6 nominations to the Golden Globes 2019, among which are Best Screenplay, Best Motion Picture, Best Actress for Scarlett Johansson and Best Actor for Adam Driver. In addition, the film received 7 nominations to the Oscars, among which are the categories of Best Original Screenplay, Best Actor, Best Actress and Best Picture.
