Dune: Part Two’s official trailer
If you thought the plot of the first movie was interesting, this second installment is going to exceed your expectations! Paul continues his rise among the Fremen while following his path to become “The Chosen One”, battling Emperor Padishah Shaddam in the process.
New characters include Princess Irulan, played by Florence Pugh, one of the emperor’s daughters who has to wed Paul for political reasons. We will also meet Alia Atreides, the daughter of Lady Jessica and the late Duke Leto and Feyd-Rautha, the successor to House Harkonnen, played by Austin Butler.
In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Austin Butler recalled with some discomfort part of the first week of filming and his experience on the set:
It was 110 degrees and so hot. I had the bald cap on, and it was between two soundstages that were just these gray boxes of 200-foot walls and sand. It became like a microwave. There were people passing out from heatstroke. And that was just my first week.
Feyd-Rautha Harkonnen comes from the family that controlled Arrakis before the Atreides; they were in charge of overseeing the production of the Spices, which gave them power over the other Houses.
Fred is the nephew of Baron Vladimir Harkonnen, so he eventually rises to take his place as leader of the house. The young man, blinded by his thirst for vengeance towards the Atreides family, is convinced that Paul’s destruction could help him rise to power. Therefore, he agrees to join his uncle’s plans and travels to the planet Arrakis to carry out his goal.
On the other hand, Paul’s destiny is to become a formidable leader, but to do so he must win the impending and crucial battle ahead. Luckily for him, he will have the support of the Fremen people and Chani (played by Zendaya).
In the first installment, Chani appears mainly in Paul’s repeated dream sequences, but her role will have more screen time in this second part. The love story between them will be crucial, as Paul must face a choice between the love of his life and the fate of the known universe.
Anya Taylor-Joy in Dune: Part Two?!
Another actor joining the cast as of this installment is none other than Christopher Walken. The 79-year-old actor, recently participated in Severance, Ben Stiller’s excellent series for Apple TV+. Walken will play the role of Emperor Shaddam IV in Dune: Part Two.
Dune: Part Two not only has a promising cast but also a gripping story and an immersive experience that no one would want to miss, even the actors said so! Thanks to the music and special effects, viewers will feel like they are part of every battle.
