Twisters, 28 years after the first film’s debut, returns with a new chapter in the storm chasers’ story. In this release, Daisy Edgar-Jones plays Kate, a former storm chaser who, after a traumatic catastrophe, left her dangerous profession to work in an office. However, an opportunity to test an innovative storm-tracking system during an imminent disaster makes her reconsider this decision. Kate, alongside Tyler Owens (Glen Powell), embarks on an adventure filled with tornadoes, dangers, and challenges that put her at risk once again.

1. The actors participated in an intensive meteorology camp: Twisters had its own professional storm consultant. At the camp, the cast learned everything about tornadoes to gain knowledge about the film’s main subject.
2. Immersion in Oklahoma: The film’s lead actress mentioned that she complemented her studies with YouTube videos and dove into the local history of Oklahoma to the point of learning the distinctive accent of that North American region.

Close advisory: According to the lead actress, the meteorologist “was present on set during the storm-chasing scenes to explain what real chasers would think or how they might react in certain situations. He helped us with technical vocabulary, explained concepts, and ensured we were pronouncing terms correctly. He kept us alert and helped us stay focused.”

Real destruction on set: Far from being a mere simulation, Twisters recreated scenes almost realistically to resemble the effects of natural disasters. “There was a sequence where a tornado completely destroyed a rodeo show. While we were trying to dodge all kinds of debris and find shelter, they used a crane to drop a horse trailer from the sky,” the lead actress revealed.
5. Extreme filming: As Edgar-Jones highlights, the Twisters team tried to recreate the scenes as genuinely as possible. On one occasion, they strapped the actress into a car and spun it in reverse, “as if I were in a washing machine.”
