In 2022, Ti West and A24 debuted X, a horror film that combined elements of suspense, mystery and gore, receiving both public and critical acclaim, and marked the beginning of a refreshing trilogy. Synopsis of MaXXXine

The story introduces Maxine Minx, our protagonist from the first installment, in 1980s Hollywood where she, as an adult film star, begins to get into the world of horror movies. But when a mysterious killer stalks the movie stars, ghosts from the past begin to resurface for Maxine.

MaXXXine is a highly entertaining film, with an introduction that opens up several interesting plot paths, although some are not fully developed or are quickly closed due to the film’s short running time (1 hour and 40 minutes). Despite this, MaXXXine is a great horror and gore slasher that is worth watching, especially if you enjoyed the previous two installments. The setting and performances are the strongest points of this installment, highlighting a well selected casting and an outstanding performance by Mia Goth, deserving of several awards.
