How many movies are in The Conjuring universe?
So far, The Conjuring universe has 8 movies connected by paranormal cases, demons, and investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren. Although they were released in a different order, there’s an internal chronological line that organizes all events in their “real” sequence.
Chronological order to watch The Conjuring movies
If you want to watch the entire saga following the timeline of events (and not the release order), this is the correct order:
- The Nun (2018): Set in 1952, it’s the earliest story in the universe and reveals Valak’s demonic origin.
- Annabelle: Creation (2017): Set in 1955, it shows how the curse of the Annabelle doll is born.
- Annabelle (2014): Three years after Creation, we follow the chaos Annabelle causes in a young couple’s life.
- Annabelle Comes Home (2019): Takes place in 1972, when the doll is already in the Warrens’ custody… and nothing goes well.
- The Conjuring (2013): The Warrens’ first cinematic appearance, with the terrifying Perron case.
- The Nun II (2023): Although set in 1956, it’s recommended to watch it here so it works better as a bridge between the events of Annabelle and The Conjuring.
- The Conjuring 2 (2016): The Hodgson family and the famous Enfield poltergeist case.
- The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It (2021): Based on the first legal case in the U.S. where demonic possession was used as a defense.
Will there be more movies in The Conjuring universe?
