Una nueva película del Joker está en camino

 

Próximamente

 

El Joker lucirá una vez más su maquillaje de payaso en una nueva producción por parte de DC y Warner Bros.

 

Esta vez será el nominado al Óscar Joaquin Phoenix (The Master, 2012; Her, 2013) quien interprete al Joker, continuando el legado de otros actores como Jack Nicholson en Batman (1989), Heath Ledger en Batman: el caballero de la noche (The Dark Knight, 2008) y Jared Leto en la no tan aclamada Escuadrón suicida (Suicide Squad, 2016), la tercera entrega dentro del universo extendido de DC.

 

La película explorará los orígenes del legendario Príncipe del Crimen de Ciudad Gótica, quien ha sido conocido por no tener un origen fijo y ha estado siempre envuelto en un aura de misterio. Con un reducido presupuesto de 55 millones de dólares y ambientada en los años 80, la cinta estudiará el desarrollo del personaje en un mundo en el que Batman todavía no existe.

 

Será dirigida por Todd Phillips (Trilogía ¿Qué pasó ayer? o The Hangover, 2009-2011-2013), y contará la vida de Arthur Fleck, un comediante fracasado en medio de una historia de decepción, crimen y violencia. A Phoenix lo acompañarán Zazie Beetz (Deadpool 2, 2018) y  Brett Cullen (True Detective, 2019) en el papel de Thomas Wayne, padre de un joven Bruce Wayne que será interpretado por Dante Pereira-Olson (Happy!, 2017-2018).

 

Al tratarse del origen del Joker, se espera que la película tome inspiración de historias como La broma asesina (The Killing Joke) de Alan Moore, pero también de El rey de la comedia (The King of Comedy, 1983) de Martin Scorsese (quien estuvo trabajando en la cinta como productor ejecutivo), protagonizada por Robert De Niro, quien ha sido confirmado para un cameo en el film.

 

Aunque Jared Leto no actuará más como el Joker, se ha confirmado que esta nueva película no tendrá relación alguna con el universo extendido de DC, sino que será el inicio de una nueva colección de películas basadas en personajes de DC bajo los posibles nombres de DC Dark o DC Black.

 

¿Podrá un director de comedias estar a la altura de una película de uno de los villanos más crueles de la cultura popular? Lo sabremos cuando Joker llegue a los cines el 4 de octubre de 2019.
